Holy crap. What did I just read?

So, I’m no stranger to this authors writing, and being taken by surprise by elements of the story, but before I delve into my thoughts on the story I have to say, that was one hell of an ending. And one I have to admit I didn’t see coming.

There were instances in the story that lead me to believe that things were going to take a turn in one way or the other, and that this book may not end as happily as it started as I watched Lachlan and Sawyer meet and fall in love with one another, but damn. I didn’t see the ending coming at all.

And now my heart is broken.

It’s my hope that it doesn’t end here, that there is going to be more for Lachlan and for their legacy (family etc.), but even if there isn’t, this was one hell of a story and one that I’m glad I took the chance on. Where I’d fallen in love with the author based on a previous book of hers, here I sit now, eager for more. Impressed beyond measure and excited for what will come next.

Sawyer and Lachlan weren’t easy characters. They didn’t have a fair shake in life based on their history when they meet, but they were very real in how they were portrayed. I also enjoyed how neither of them other than Sawyer in the very beginning (in terms of her reasoning where Lachlan was concerned), were afraid to own their mistakes. As hard as it was for them both to admit and how long it took them at times, I was impressed by the maturity at points where honestly, given their ages, I didn’t expect to see much of it.

My heart melted and broke at the same freaking time.

It was equal parts heartbreaking and sweet, adorable, and insane, and definitely worth every second spent reading it. It seemed super crazy at points, but I think that’s what kept the pages turning for me, because nothing was all that predictable, except maybe the reference to the title in their time spent apart.

Brilliantly done and I can’t wait for what the author has in store for us next!

Author Bio

Jessica Gouin hates talking about Jessica Gouin. Especially in the third person.

I’m a fairly normal person from Windsor, Ontario. I was born here, grew up here, met my hubs here, and had my children here. I really couldn’t imagine living anywhere else.

More than anything, I love watching my children grow every day. They amuse the hell out of me. I swear they were sent to earth to provide my life with comedic relief. My babies (I say babies, but they’re 5 and 8, still and forever will be babies, am I right?), and my husband, are the reasons why I get up every morning and continue to fight the good fight.

When I’m not enjoying my mommy-life, I’m writing. Writing is my stress reliever. I go a little mad when I’m not creating an escape path for the characters in my head. I love, love, love to read. I’m a reader first, always have been. I try to branch and read all types of genres, but I always seem to come back to those epic love stories. I’m a sucker for a great kiss. When I need breaks from the literary world, I have a few shows that I watch with the hubs; The Walking Dead, The Vampire Diaries, Chicago Fire, and Grey’s Anatomy are my favs. I love rain storms, a good laugh, strong coffee, sleep, and anything with chocolate. I hate mean people, the outdoors, heights.

I genuinely become ecstatic when I receive a like on my Facebook page, or when someone reaches out to say they liked my books. So, thank you for stalking me because I love it!
