Sneak Peek Excerpt of Xavier Cold

“You tired?” he asks. It doesn’t hit me until he mentions being tired on how exhausted I actually am. Tonight’s been stressful, and I’m sure, if I allow myself to close my eyes for even the briefest time, I’d fall asleep on the spot. But I refuse to let go of Xavier. When I thought they would lock him up and throw away the key, the opportunity to hold him against me anytime I wanted felt like it was quickly being ripped away. So, for now, I choose to stay here, in his presence, breathing him in as much as I possibly can. I tilt my head up and stare into his light-blue eyes. “I’m ready for bed, but I don’t want to sleep just yet.” For the first time since the chaos of the day began, Xavier smiles, but it’s not just any smile. It’s the heart-stopping one-sided smirk that drives me out of my ever-loving mind. “Have I turned my good girl naughty?” I give him my best wicked grin. “Afraid so. I can’t seem to get enough of you.” His large hands cradle my face. “Glad to hear it because I’m fucking addicted to you.” His lips press on mine, and I’m immediately lost in his kiss. The stubble on his face scratches my fingertips as I trace his jawline. “I need you.” A wicked gleam is in his eyes. “Is that so?” Xavier bends down and nips my lower lip. “You don’t know how much it turns me on when you ask for it. It takes every ounce of willpower in my body to stop myself from throwing you down on that bed and ravaging every inch of your body for my pleasure.” At the very thought of what that would be like, my pulse races under my skin. “What’s stopping you?” “You’re too sweet for that.” He leans in and runs his nose along my cheek, causing my entire body to quiver with anticipation. “And because you’re not ready to go there— to allow me to have full control— yet.” “How do you know?”

I received the ARC of Xavier Cold by Michelle A Valentine in exchange for an honest and spoiler free review.

Fair warning, Xavier Cold cannot be read as a standalone.  It takes off where Phenomenal X ended with a cliff-hanger.

There are so many books available out there that sometimes I just go with instinct, or the beauty of the cover or if it's on sale.  I had never read any of Michelle's books before.  The blurb for Phenomenal X didn't enlightened me very much on what kind of story this was.  Only that Xavier was a professional wrestler with a reputation for being a notorious bad boy and Anna the fresh out of college good girl.  I bought Phenomenal X back in 2014 and it sat in my kindle because I knew from the reviews it had a cliffhanger.  So when I got the chance to get an ARC, I drove in at full speed. Well let me tell you that this story was well worth a lot more than the 99c I paid and it went far beyond the beautiful attractive cover.  This story deserves no less than 5 PHENOMENAL stars.

I devoured this story in a matter of hours because it was just so amazing.  I just couldn't put it down for very long because I wanted to know how it would end.  This story was so entertaining, engaging and full of drama that I read way past my bedtime.  There are a lot of twists and turns,  most were unanticipated and surprising.  The author did an amazing job of keeping the suspense going until the very end.

They met by chance on a plane while Anna was moving in with her cousin in order to get away from her controlling family.  Xavier who falls for the sweet Anna in the first book, will have a moment of bad judgment and jeopardize his future with her.  Xavier is haunted by his traumatic childhood.  Anna sees the good in him even if he doesn't think he deserves to be with her but yet can't seem to stay away from her.  They will go through tough times together and apart.  They have great scorching hot chemistry together, sparks will fly.  Anna is feisty, positive, sweet who finds the good in people but is no doormat.  Xavier the broody, alpha who thinks is not good enough for Anna.

This story/series really took me by surprise from the well-crafted thought out characters to the well written original story line.  This was a heartwarming as well as a heartbreaking story.  I loved everything about it.  Great epilogue too.

Xavier Cold is the conclusion of this 2 part series.  It's told in a dual POV with an HEA.  I strongly recommend these books, they are well worth the reader’s time and money.  Intended for mature readers due to some violence, talk of abuse, foul language and some steamy scenes. Michelle is now an author on my book list.
