He’s my way out. My escape.

But Lucas is forbidden. He’s a cop. I’m in danger. And my father is trying to protect what can’t be protected.

There can only be one outcome.

This book hurts.

I came across Bella Jewel in the past because of her biker stories. It’s what drew me to her and kept me planted even through the ones that had nothing to do with MC’s. I’m always guaranteed a great read when I pick up one of her books, but this one was and is in a league all its own.

This just might be her best book yet.

This book reads as a standalone, so if you haven’t picked up and read about the MC Sinners then you won’t really be lost while reading this one. But I can guarantee by the end of it, just with the secondary nature of the characters from that previous series, you’re going to want to get up close and personal with them. What makes them who they are in this story and how they came to be.

Now onto why this story hurts. Bella always manages to make me feel when she writes. Whether it be anger, happiness, raw heat from the love scenes she writes or coolness from the grit that is present in a lot of her stories, I’m always guaranteed something.

This one made me sad. This story made me cry, which isn’t a first for this author and me, but the level at which I cried certainly is. I felt this story in my bones. I felt Lucas’ pain all the way through, like a sharp knife being plunged into my own chest and I felt the fear and desperation and all out agony that Ava faced when she went through the unspeakable.

My heart bled for these characters alone and together, but it also made my heart melt and soar when they came together and let their guards down and each other in. When they let the love they were so obviously feeling shine through.

I loved the family dynamic here, both biological and through the MC itself, as I always do with the MC books this author writes and it made me want to go back and read all of their stories again.

This most definitely wasn’t an easy book to read, but it was beyond a shadow of a doubt the most beautiful in the way it was woven together. A story that moves with the authors familiar pacing, even, with just the right amount of detail and background etc given throughout. With characters that were very real and whose interactions and feelings I felt in my very core.

As I said, this is definitely Bella Jewel at her very best and I can’t wait to see where she goes with these characters from here.

Fantastic read and one that I am so thankful I took a chance on.

My thanks to the author and all others involved in letting me read this before release.
