It’s a no brainer that when Bella Jewel releases a new book, I’m going to be all over it. Especially when it comes to this series because much like the first two in the series, I enjoy seeing women doing jobs that for so long people wanted to classify as only for men.

I enjoy seeing these tough women carving their own path and proving their detractors wrong and no book in this series does that quite like this one.

I was actually kind of blown away with how much I loved this book. I make no secret of being a fan of the first two, but this one, especially when it comes to the heroine of the tale, just blew me away.

Delaney is a professional bodyguard and when the story starts, you see her having to prove herself in a business where she’s surrounded by a whole lot of alpha male jerks that don’t believe she can do the job like them, or in the case of what takes place in this story, better than them.

Enter Jax Fields, who at the start, when he realizes just who it is that’s going to be charged with his protection, feels much the same as the people she works with. At least he does until she proves just how capable she is, stepping in with a situation that could have proved to be detrimental to him.

It’s then that everything changes. The story really picks up at this point. We’re privy to the steam that is as familiar as breathing in a Bella Jewel story, along with the push and pull that comes once they give into what it is they’re experiencing together. Especially with what Delaney’s job is. Because it’s against the rules, and could end with her being terminated, there is a bit more push and pull here, but when they finally get past that and give in, it’s fantastic.

I have to admit, I wasn’t a fan of the character of Tori here. I do believe there was more than enough drama and edge of your seat suspense in terms of the threats against Jax for this to work without her, and even though I saw it coming, I wasn’t entirely into the whole Kyle end of things either, but it wasn’t enough to sway me away from the way this book was written, how into both Jax and Delaney I was and how smitten I may have been with her boss.

He may have only been there as a background character to further the story along, but when he appeared and the way he was with her when he did appear, I ended up falling for him almost more than I did Jax, which only makes me want a story about him now. Thanks for that author lady lol.

What did work aside from Delaney and Jax was the suspense. It was credible. The reason he needs protection at all, the escalation of the threats against him and anyone surrounding him, it was believable to me. I bought in and once I did, there were quite a few times where I actually questioned just how this was going to all play out.

If either of them, or both of them together would make it out of this alive. Which now that the story is said and done, I think was masterfully executed. If I hadn’t felt that way, then this book wouldn’t have been as enjoyable, so for that, amongst other things, this book really was a winner for me in every aspect.

The pacing was steady, not too quick and not too slow at times, the right information being shown at any given point to move the story from beginning to end and I was captivated for all of it.

I’m definitely a fan of this couple and even though Jax may have started out being a typical man whore type of character, I like the way he seemed to change with Delaney. How intent he was on having her, even if there were misunderstandings along the way.

All in all, I have to say, this might be the best book in the trilogy that she’s written yet.

My thanks to the author, publisher and all others involved in letting me read this before its official release. I’m thoroughly enjoyed it and am so glad I got to be a part of it.
